…It teaches you how to perform the basic yoga breath, also called the diaphramatic breath, the complete breath or just the basic yoga breath…
In this 7 minutes 18 seconds long guided relaxation breathing exercises video, YogaVa focusses on a single theme of the three part breath (3 part breath) breathing exercise, also known as the complete breath and dirgha pranayama (dirga pranayama). It is a still video of a female instructor who explains and demonstrate the Three Part Breath technique (but incorrectly I must say).
The theme of this relaxation video is well focused on breathing exercises, more specifically the Three Part Breath or Complete Breath. After a brief introduction the female instructor explain and demonstrates the breathing Three Part Breath technique.
The audio used in this breathing exercises video contains the voice of the female instructor. The tone and pace of the instructor is nice with a relaxing tone.
The verbal instructions are given by the female instructor are clear and detailed. However, the instructions appear to be incorrect to me. She explains the technique as the reverse of what everyone else seems to describe. She explains the technique as breathing into the upper chest, then the rib cage and then the belly. Virtually all other instructors I’ve seen explain the technique as breathing into the belly first, then the rib cage area and finally the upper chest.
The demonstration is given by the same female that gives the instructions. In other words, she is demonstrating whilst talking. She is in a frontal seated body position quite some distance away from the camera which makes it a little difficult to see the demonstration. Although she uses visual cues during the demonstration in the form of hand positioning and gestures, they don’t really support or reinforce the verbal instructions very well because of the camera distance and the frontal body position.
There is only one scene used throughout the entire video which is that of the female instructor demonstrating the breathing exercise within a room with large glass windows and door.
The scene of this breathing exercises video shows images of the female instructor, the room with large glass windows and a door and an outdoor background of a lake and trees which is quite relaxing.
This Three Part Breath Or Complete Breath breathing exercises video has some good point in that the voice is calm and relaxed, the instructions are clear and there is a relaxing background of a lake and trees. However, this is more than negated by the fact that the instructions contradict what virtually all other videos teach on the topic. In other words, the technique is described incorrectly. On top of that, the actual demonstration is not very clear as it is too far away from the video camera and the explanation and demonstration are a bit too long.
