This guided relaxation breathing exercises video by TheArtofLivingTV is 2 minutes 6 seconds long and focuses on a single theme of the Bhramari Pranayama breathing exercises, also known as Humming Bee Breath and Bumble Bee Breath. It uses still video and motion video (panning) of a female demonstrator whilst the technique is explained. There is a voiceover in which a female speaks the instructions whilst relaxing music is played in the background.
The theme of this relaxation video is well focused on breathing exercises, more specifically the Bhramari Pranayama. After a brief introduction the female instructor describes the technique whilst a different female demonstrator shows us how to do it. After the demonstration, observation of the body sensations is recommended and when to practice is discussed.
The audio of this Bhramari Pranayama video contains the voice of the female instructor as a voiceover. The pace and tone of the instructor is fairly relaxing and there is also relaxing music played in the background.
The verbal instructions given by the female instructor are clear and simple. She simply says take a deep breath in and make a humming sound. In this respect the instructions could be considered insufficient by some. Do you breath in with the nose, mouth or both? The inhale probably does not matter with this technique, although many people instruct to breath in via the nose.
There is no mention of how to exhale for this technique. This is probably because anyone making a humming sound automatically breathes out through the nose as closed lips/mouth are required to make a humming sound.
The demonstration is given by a female demonstrator that is different from the female instructor. She is in a yoga kneeling posture on the ground and the camera views her from various angles throughout the video. A part of the demonstration requires the use of the index fingers to close and open the ear passages by pushing the ear cartiladge in and out.
There are three main scenes in this Bhramari Pranayama video. The first and third scenes are of the natural environment. The middle scene includes the female demonstrator within a nature scene, performing the Bhramari Pranayama demonstration.
The camera angle varies throughout the video. In the first and third scenes motion video is used with a panning technique across the landscapes. In the demonstration scene, the camera angle is mainly at a horizontal angle. There are both full body length and closup still video clips of the demonstrator from the front, side and back. There are also motion video panning clips of the demonstrator, from bottom to top, and from one side to the other.
The scenes of this Bhramari Pranayama video show images of the female demonstrator and the natural environment which includes images of hills, rocks, ruins, bushes, trees, skies, clouds and sunshine.
This breathing exercises video is a great explanation and demonstration of the Bhramari Pranayama technique. It is done using a great natural environment with relaxing music to relax the learner. The voiceover of the female instructor is also done at a relaxed pace with a relaxed tone and the instructions and demonstration are clear. I would have said it was excellent if there was a little more explanation of the actual inhale and exhale which is taken for granted as though it would be done naturally by the learner.
