Bhramari Pranayama Or Bumble Bee Breath By sacredanthony

Bhramari pranayam

… Bhramari pranayam is a yoga breathing technique that creates a deep sense of calmness…

This guided relaxation breathing exercises video by sacredanthony is 3 minutes 21 seconds long and is focused on one theme, that of Bhramari Pranayama breathing exercises, also called Bumble Bee Breath and Humming Bee Breath. It uses still video of a male instructor who is also the male demonstrator of the technique.

Video Components

The theme of this relaxation video is well focused on Bhramari Pranayama (Bumble Bee Breath) breathing exercises and the use of the thumbs and fingers to aid concentration.

The audio used in this Bhramari Pranayama (Bumble Bee Breath) breathing exercises video contains the voice of the male instructor only. His tone and pace is quite good and relaxing. The sound quality is a little poor as there is background noise on the audio recording.

The verbal instructions are given by the male instructor in a reasonably clear and fairly detailed way.

He gives an introduction to the technique during a quick demonstration. He then explains the sound to be made during the exhale. However, he does not explain to inhale through the nose, or exhale through the nose and close the mouth in order to make the humming sound. I assume that he makes the assumption that it will happen naturally. Next he explains to use your thumbs to block your ears and exclude noise from the environment and to increase concentration. Then he explains how to place your fingers on your face. He then finishes off with a few words about practicing.

The male demonstrator is the same person as the male instructor. In other words, he is demonstrating whilst he talks. He is in a frontal upright seated body position in an office chair. He uses visual cues during the demonstration in the form of hand positioning on the face and ears. The use of the hands supports and reinforces the verbal instructions quite well.

There is only one scene used throughout this Bhramari Pranayama (Bumble Bee Breath) video which is that of the male instructor demonstrating the breathing exercise whilst siting in an office chair in a room.

The scene of this Bhramari Pranayama (Bumble Bee Breath) video show images of the head and shoulders of the male instructor demonstrator, in a room with a wall and curtain behind him. The camera angle is horizontal but slightly downwards towards the male demonstrator. The camera is probably a webcam attached to his computer. Also, the image size does not fill the screen completely and distracting black bars are visible

This breathing exercises video with an example of Bhramari Pranayama (Bumble Bee Breath) is ok at explaining and demonstrating the breathing technique. It is also done at a relaxed pace. The instructions given are clear and it is fairly detailed, although there are a few points that needed clarifying. The demonstration is clear and supports the instructions given. The inhale needs to be explained as through the nose. I know we probably do this naturally but the exhale needs to be explained as through the nose with the mouth closed in order to produce the humming sound. Finally, the recording needs to fill the screen completely to remove the black bars and background noise needs to be removed from the audio.
