I WOULD bring you a song, O lakes:
A song of delight and desire;
A song of the spring that wakes,
Of the warm red light that shakes
Far over your white ice-pyre.

I would breathe you a song, O lakes;
A song of the love that thrills
The heart of the year, and breaks
The fetters of winter, and slakes
The thirst of the season in rills.

I would breathe you a song, O lakes;
And the bountiful answer you give,
And the love and music it wakes,
Trances my spirit and makes
Me thankful to God that I live.

Mountains have also inspired people to write poems. One entitled “The Mountain” by Emily Dickinson goes as follows:

The mountain sat upon the plain
In his eternal chair,
His observation omnifold,
His inquest everywhere.

The seasons prayed around his knees,
Like children round a sire:
Grandfather of the days is he,
Of dawn the ancestor.

About Water & Rivers

River Relaxation - Rivers Video - River Video Relaxation Using Relaxing Pictures

We humans seem to be captivated by moving water and especially like to be near rivers. So what do rivers represent to mankind? Well, rivers are often a symbol of life and vitality. Perhaps rivers are seen as the life force of the earth just as blood flowing through our veins is our life force. Maybe it is that rivers keep flowing and signify that time continues on just as life also goes on.

Water is frequently used for symbolizing something within literary works. Since the existence of water is usually a sign that life exists, water is frequently used to represent life. Then if we consider fresh and poor quality water; the fresh water is used to represent good health and poor health is represented by poor quality water.

Rivers are often used as a symbol of fluidity, simplicity and elegance because of their winding form. Time and again, a slow flowing river is used to stand for the tranquil splendour of the natural world. On the other hand, a river that is quick flowing is often used to represent strength; and even disaster at times. Disaster can be symbolized by rushing rivers that are chaotic and that are likely to flood.

On a more practical note, rivers can be a wonderful playground for a variety of leisure activities. Rivers are traversed by: rowing boats during competitions; paddle boats on lazy Sunday afternoons; canoes during adventure breaks; and by leisure boats cruising with a load of guests attending an evening party. Some people love to go for a swim in rivers whilst others enjoy a splash around on a hot summer day. And of course, rivers can also represent life through the life forms they support such as fish, and which many people enjoy catching whilst fishing for leisure.

There are many reasons for fondness of rivers and it always feels worthwhile spending time on, in or near them. Should you not be near to or not be able to visit rivers regularly, you can get a virtual experience via the use of image relaxation videos. You can use them to help you relax or just look at them and contemplate their wonder.

Quotes About Water & Rivers

Here are a few quotes written about water and rivers:

  • All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full. – King Solomon
  • Ideas, like large rivers, never have just one source. – Willy Ley
  • Estuaries are coastal bays, harbors, sounds and lagoons, places where rivers meet the sea. – Jim Gerlach
  • Never give up; for even rivers someday wash dams away. – Arthur Golden
  • The progress of rivers to the ocean is not so rapid as that of man to error. – Voltaire
  • All rivers, even the most dazzling, those that catch the sun in their course, all rivers go down to the ocean and drown. And life awaits man as the sea awaits the river. – Simone Schwarz-Bart
  • You could not step twice into the same rivers; for other waters are ever flowing on to you. – Heraclitus

Rivers seem to be inspirational as they have frequently been the subject of songs. A few famous old titles are:

  • Cry Me a River
  • Ol’ Man River
  • Moon River
  • Many Rivers To Cross

Rivers have also been the inspiration for poems. Here is one entitled “My River” by Emily Dickinson:

My river runs to thee.
Blue sea, wilt thou welcome me?
My river awaits reply.
Oh! sea, look graciously.

I’ll fetch thee brooks
from spotted nooks.
Say, sea, Take me!

About Water & Waterfalls

Most humans are fascinated with moving water and waterfalls. There seems to be something inspirational or even magical, especially regarding water and waterfalls. Some people say that a river is a life journey metaphor and view waterfalls as a symbol of the most remarkable and passionate experiences of life. So why do so many people love to visit waterfalls? Why do many people go out of their way to view these natural forces.

Waterfall Relaxation - Waterfall Video - Water Relaxation Video Using Relaxing Pictures - Water And Waterfalls Relaxation Image

Perhaps people love water and waterfalls because there are an infinite diversity of them in terms of size, shape and features. Perhaps in part it is because we can find them in such a variety of locations. You can find them in hills and mountains; within woods and forests; inside valleys and ravines; and also along the coast. Possibly it is due to their naturalness and the comforting feeling of order they convey in our modern chaotic world. Perhaps the natural flow and elegant patterns and shapes hypnotize us into feeling that everything is healthy and ok with the world. Or is it simply that they have a calming and relaxing effect on our minds which is intrinsic to their movement and misty nature.

Whatever the reason each person has for liking waterfalls, it is worthwhile spending your valuable time by visiting and experiencing these real, natural wonders. However, if you cannot get easy or regular access to waterfalls, maybe the next best thing is to experience them through image relaxation videos, even if you do not need to relax but just to marvel at them.

Quotes About Water & Waterfalls

Below are some quotes composed about water and waterfalls:

  • As humans, water makes up seventy percent of our bodies. Water is who we are at our most elemental level. We must learn to respect water, as it is us. – J. Michael Read
  • Water is precious; it is the very source of life and a free gift from the Creator. -Desmond M. Tutu
  • A strong man and a waterfall always channel their own path. – Anonymous
  • Romance often begins by a splashing waterfall and ends over a leaky sink – Anonymous

Water and waterfalls are often topics included within poems, quotes and even songs and considered as wonderful positive things. However, in the following words from a song, waterfalls are used as an example of big and dangerous things. In the 1995 hit single called “Waterfalls” by TLC, a female trio, come the words:

Don’t go chasing waterfalls. Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to – by TLC

One interpretation of this is that you should not chase go after big showy things. Do not go after things that catch your eye or interest, as they are often self-destructive and you may not be able to cope with it. Instead, stick with or go for the things you are intended for.

Sky And Clouds Relaxation Image - Sky And Clouds Image Relaxation Video - Animoto Relaxing Nature Video Using Relaxing Picture

About Sky & Clouds

I feel that the sky and clouds represent a never ending source of inspiration and optimism each and every day for people from all nations around the world. The ever changing sky also reminds me of the every changing world in which we live.

Like me, do you feel that the sky influences our daily lives? Many people agree that the sky can influence the mood of people. Dark clouds tend to make some people feel a little gloomy. A clear blue sky with the sun shinning tends to make people feel happy and positive.

On the other hand, many people also take the sky and clouds for granted. Do we really appreciate the beauty of the sky and clouds? As with many things, we tend not to appreciate them until we loose them. People locked away in prisons for long periods of time have the desire to stand free under the open sky. A large expanse of open sky can instil a sense of wonder and of freedom in people.

Quotes About Sky & Clouds

Here’s just a few of the many quotes written about sky and clouds:

  • The sky is the daily bread of the eyes – Ralph Waldo Emerson;
  • The sky is that beautiful old parchment in which the sun and the moon keep their diary – Alfred Kreymborg;
  • There are no rules of architecture for a castle in the clouds – G.K. Chesterton;
  • Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky – Rabindranath Tagore.

Image Relaxation Videos

What Are Image Relaxation Videos

Simply put, image relaxation videos are videos that instil a sense of relaxation in the viewer and are usually a combination of audio and visual stimulation.

General Types Of Image Relaxation Videos

Image Relaxation Videos - Cornwall Relaxation Image

There are two general types of image relaxation video:

  1. Simple Image Relaxation – this is purely a combination of visuals with audio in the form of either music, nature sounds or a combination of music and nature sounds.
  2. Guided Image Relaxation – With guided relaxation there is an added dimension to the video in the form of instructions which are usually provided by a voice but could also be in the form of text on the viewing screen.

Parts Of Videos For Image Relaxation

There are three main parts to image relaxation videos:

  • Video Introduction – This would be some instructions, either voice, text or both, to prepare the viewer for the relaxation video.
  • Video Relaxation Scenes – This would be the combination of visuals and audio used to create a sense of relaxation for the viewer.
  • Video Conclusion – This would be some messages, either voice, text or both, informing the viewer that the relaxation video is about to end.

Length Of Videos For Image Relaxation

The amount of time people have available to use a relaxation video will vary depending of their circumstances and what they want to achieve. The length of a video will therefore depend on what human purpose it was created to match:

  • Short Break – Some people may just want a quick break from their work routine or from whatever else they are doing and only have a 5 to 15 minutes time slot.
  • Spare Time – During the day some people may have some spare time in which they want to experience a medium length relaxation session of 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Full Relaxation Session – People who actually use relaxation as a form of recreation will find time on a regular basis to undergo a full relaxation session, usually a guided relaxation greater than 30 minutes in length.

Visual Component OF Image Relaxation Videos

The visual component of image relaxation videos consists of a number of visuals displayed to the viewer with each visual being swapped over using a transition:

Visuals – The visual component of image relaxation videos will be either:

  1. Images – These a simply still images of relaxing scenes.
  2. Video Clips – The purpose of video is to capture motion and audio. The motion within image relaxation videos is usually relatively slow to convey a relaxing or calming effect on the viewer. Video clips can be either:
  • Stationary Video – With this type of video, the scene is fixed and the subject of the video is virtually stationary or moving only very slightly (e.g. a flower swaying gently in the breeze). The purpose of this type of video is usually to also capture the natural sounds close by.
  • Motion Video – With this type of video either:
    1. Moving Camera – The camera will be moving, or panning, whilst the scene is fixed (e.g. providing a panoramic view of the mountain range); or
    2. Fixed Camera – The camera will be fixed whilst something within the scene will be moving (e.g. watching the waves rolling on a beach).
    3. Fixed And Moving Camera – This will simply involve displaying a mixture of both moving camera and fixed camera video clips at different times during the overall image relaxation video.
  • Images And Video – This will involve displaying a mixture of both images and video clips at different times during the overall image relaxation video.

Transitions – Transitions are the way in which a video moves from one image to another. A transition will be of a specific type and occur over a specific time period:

  1. Transition Type – There are many types of transition with all sorts of names such as slide, flip, breaking glass, etc. Whichever transition types are used, they should help promote a feeling of relaxation and not stress or agitate the viewer.
  2. Transition Time – The transition time from one scene to another plays a role in providing a relaxed state of mind. If the transition time is zero, instantaneous or abrupt, then this could break the relaxed state of mind of the viewer. If it takes too long to make the transition then the viewer may become frustrated and hence lose their relaxed state of mind. A transition time of between 2 and 4 seconds is a good time to allow viewers to change their focus of attention and not feel they have had their concentration disrupted too abruptly.

Audio Component Of Image Relaxation Videos

Audio is added to image relaxation videos to create a more attention captivating atmosphere by doing the following:

  1. Engaging – Engaging the hearing of the viewer; and
  2. Blocking – Blocking out external noises to some degree.

The various types of audio that could be used are:

  1. Music – Soothing and/or inspiring musical compositions to create a relaxed state are frequently used in image relaxation videos. What actually constitutes a relaxing musical sound may in some respects depend on the individual listener.
  2. Nature Sounds – Nature sounds are considered to provide a calming and relaxing effect. Such sounds include: waves on the shore; trickling water in a stream; singing birds and insect sounds in a forest; the wind blowing through the trees; etc.
  3. Voice – A gentle, calming voice speaking whilst the visuals are displayed can instil a sense of relaxation. When a voice is used within a relaxation video, the term “guided” is often used in the video title.
  4. Combination – A combination of audio types can provide a relaxing environment, although getting the right balance can be a little tricky to achieve:
  • Music or Sounds With Voice – A voiceover may be used with a quiet music track or nature sounds and the term “guided” is often used in the video description.
  • Sounds And Music – Combining nature sounds and music together can be successful if the music is quiet as it fills in the gaps between the nature sounds.

Summary On Relaxation Videos

Image relaxation videos can be produced in different formats and for different purposes. However, the essential elements are relaxing audio and visual components. What one person finds relaxing may not be so for another, so you may have to experiment with different forms until you find a relaxation video format that suits you.
